    Our panel of local speakers, will share their experiences & insights on: developing new ventures, markets, food products, on farm tourism.

    NRF Harvest Food Festival

    Northern Rivers Food invites you to the most fabulous, most local and most delectable gastronomic graze over three glorious days at this year’s Harvest Food Festival. Clear your calendar to make room for local food, beverages, culinary surprises and wonderful company as you explore some of our region’s finest offerings.

    We are pleased to announce that Australian media personality and broadcaster Angela Catterns will be our host for the duration of the event which runs from Friday May 5th – Sunday May 7th 2017.

    NRF Harvest Food Festival - Exclusive Opening Event: Brilliant Botanicals @ Cape Byron Distillery

    Exclusive Opening Event - Northern Rivers Food Harvest Festival 2017.

    Come and join us at the newly opened Cape Byron Distillery, situated in the heart of our macadamia farm overlooking lush rainforest. The home of Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin (created by the Brook Family and Jim McEwan).

    The afternoon will be the perfect start to our Harvest Celebrations:

    • The ultimate Distillery experience
    • Two premium cocktails relaxing on the verandah overlooking the rainforest and macadamia farm (additional drinks available at Cellar Door bar) 
    • Bangalow Sweet Pork “Pig on the spit” created by the fabulous Spotted Pig Chefs

    NRF Harvest Food Festival Day Two: Coast to Country: Discover the marvels of Cheese, Carool and Cane Sugar Rum

    Hop on the foodie bus and discover the delights in our abundant Northern Rivers backyard.

    From the luxe of Elements of Byron Resort, Byron Bay, we’ll make our way north to Cheeses Loves You in Burringbar and balance our palate with an array of superior Jersey cow’s milk cheeses.

    With some time to digest, we’ll meander through beautiful countryside to Carool and land at the award-winning Potager restaurant, where we will indulge in a sumptuous two-course lunch.

    NRF Harvest Food Festival Day Three: Farms and Feasting: Big Harvest Food Discovery Day

    Meeting at the picturesque Clunes, enjoy the sunshine before we prepare for a range of Sunday strolls through local farms. Taking in local macadamias, limes, sheep, chickens, vegies and garlic, we’re getting hands-on at the source, tantalising our culinary senses.

    8.30am – Meet at the Clunes Café before we head off. 9am Bus departs from Clunes Bus Stop (across road from Clunes Shop) for Boorabee Dorper Sheep Stud in Bexhill 9.15am – 10am At our first stop, we will visit one of our region’s finest lamb producers, in the rolling green pastures of Bexhill. At Boorabee Dorper Sheep Stud, the lambs are raised in a stress free environment under sustainably organic farming principals. See how sheep are raised on a special diet of natural grasses and high protein pasture program which includes cloves, plantain and chicory.

    10.15 All on board…bus departs for beautiful Numulgi

    10.30 – 11.15am Visit the Doggett’s gorgeous macadamia and lime farm in Numulgi – see how macadamias are grown, harvested and hear about the latest and greatest from the local macadamia industry. Top up your caffeine levels with local tea / coffee supplied by Zentveld’s Coffee.

    11.15 bus departs for Boomerang Creek Farm in sunny Corndale.

    11.30 – 12.15pm Our final visit for the morning will be to the enterprising Boomerang Creek Farm where we will be offered some very special farm secrets on how to grow the tastiest garlic & green vegies ever! Delight over their heritage breed chickens & farm fresh eggs! 12.15 bus heads back to Clunes

    12.30 Tour finishes and will drop off at Clunes Shop / Hall.

    NRF Harvest Festival Day Three: Rustic Harvest Finale Feast at Historic Clunes Hall with Chef Francisco Smoje

    Who doesn’t love a long, late autumnal lunch?

    Join us for a culmination of the Harvest Food Festival in communal tables with rustic platters of bountiful, local produce. Roaming Chef Francisco Smoje of Francisco’s Table fame, will create one of his signature festive feasts. The Rustic Harvest Finale Feast will be held in the historic Coronation Hall in Clunes.

    A three course, long table of seasonal, freshly harvested food will be served for all to share. Catering will be plentiful for vegetarian and non-vegetarians alike.

    Meet some of our renowned local food authors – cookbooks will be available for cash sale only (ATM available at Clunes Store). Of course they’ll sign especially for you!

    Be entertained by the soulful tunes of local Emily Turner Trio.

    Enjoy a handcrafted beer on arrival from the local brewery Stone & Wood who’ll be running a pop up bar all afternoon selling $5 beers.
