    Tradeshows, Market Stalls & Marketing - Getting it Right

    Networking Breakfast a Great Success

    Members and guests were treated to a sumptuous breakfast provided by host Wollongbar TAFE and to the lively panel discussion that followed  
    on exhibiting at tradeshows and markets.  

    The panel's collective knowledge was a goldmine of information for both experienced and new exhibitors. It's expertise embraced major international and Australian tradeshows, festivals and farmers markets, display and stand design, government incentives and tradeshows as a marketing tool.  

    Tips and advice were offered on how to decide whether trade shows suit your stage of development and target market, managing trade vs.consumer shows, basic costs, presentation techniques, evaluation of financial return, methods to follow up leads, gaining media coverage and complementary promotional techniques.  

    The audience was especially appreciative of the willingness of panel members to reveal the lessons learned from their good and not so good experiences as a practical guide to newcomers considering tradeshows as a marketing option.

    Many members expressed a renewed interest in tradeshows and remained afterwards to chat to the panel, in particular to the representative of Diversified Exhibitions, the organiser of the NRF stand at this year's Good Food and Wine Show in Sydney.

    PAST EVENT: Financing Your Food Business – The Management Accountant and the Business Banking Manager give you their insights!

    Kate Cameron, a partner at  Rochdale Accounting & Financial Services, reviewed the importance of having an up-to-date business plan with supporting documentation prepared prior to approaching a lender for finance. Charles Allen, Senior Business Banking Manager at National Australia Bank, Lismore discussed the key issues that banks / lenders consider and how to best address those issues.

    Networking Event: "In Conversation with the Media"

    Telling your story and getting the right media coverage is the secret of so many successful companies.
    We heard from the experts on how to do it and maximise your exposure. This meeting was for everyone who wants to succeed in business!
    Hosted by journalist and foodie Donna Harper,  the event included talks by the following great speakers:
    Remy Tancred - Sample
    “How to Find and Connect with Journalists”
    No-one can connect with journalists and get them to listen better that Remy can. Her career has included marketing, magazines, television, events, consulting and publishing. She is the founder of Sample magazine and director of the Sample Food Festival.
    Janella Purcell - Naturopath and Author
    “Preparing for a Radio, Television, Press Interview”
    Who better to share her experience as a subject for the media than Janella  Co-host of “Good Chef Bad Chef”,  Janella will provide an insight into how to prepare for being interviewed for print, radio and television and how to manage the media.
    Trudy Johnston - Vim and Zest Communications
    “Writing a Media Release to Attract Attention”
    Trudy knows how to write a story that the media will notice. She worked for 20 years in publicity, marketing and training and now runs her own business publicising creative entrepreneurs in the food, arts and health and wellbeing industries.
    The evening concluded with a panel discussion involving our media experts and successful marketing executives from Northern Rivers Food businesses including Martin Brook - the Head of Marketing and Media at Brookfarm.
