How to Join an NRF Committee

We encourage you to nominate and get actively involved in Northern Rivers Food, whther you're a full member or an Industry Affiliate. While there is a serious side to being a Committee member, it also brings great personal rewards.  You’ll develop great networks, you’ll be actively contributing to the growth and success of the food industry in the Northern Rivers from paddock to plate. Time committment comes in waves but on average it may require 10 mins to 1 hour of your time a week - could be at your computer, on the phone, etc, etc) Remember it’s always about food, enjoying the journey and keeping  the work/life balance alive. “Feeding the Soul”

The Committees you can volunteer for include

  • Marketing -  We currently have two marketing groups at NRF:  one looking at media, tourism & retail initiatives and the other working on an upcoming NRF Harvest Festival.  With both these groups we are looking for people who can offer broad marketing, communication or design skills. First there is the brainstorming, but after that to implement  the Marketing Action plan we need people who can help out with the practical stuff - approach sponsors, plan for events, develop flyers, work on social media & electronic communications, write a media release and other initiatives. If any one of these skills fits you or you would like to learn more then this is the Committee for you.
  • Events - The Events Committee organises regular networking events, producer food trails, industry updates, workshops and other events of interest to our members and friends of NRF.  People on our events committee work in a very hands on way to organise speakers, book venues, organise catering and help communicate what is coming up. Registration for events is all online so the event committee does all the planning, costings and preparation. This is one of our most rewarding committees and will network you with Food Industry leaders.
  • Growers- We are aiming to get this group back going in 2015. The Growers group will help develop opportunities for grower members to network with other growers and the food industry, build their skills and knowledge on everything from farm practices to entrepreneurship and values adding (whether it be on farm tourism through to retailing your own products). If you're a grower or  provide services to growers this is a great committee to be involved in.
  • Chefs/Restaurants - This is a another committee we would like to establish in 2015 to support the Foodservice industry - if you're a chef or you own/manage a restaurant/cafe and want to see better networking and support in your Industry we'd love to have you onboard.

To join just email your name and the Committee you'd like to join to info@northernriversfood.org.au or call Anne Briggs, Executive Officer on T: 0411035876 to find out more information
