Pam Brook Brookfarm

Pam Brook is co-founder of Brookfarm (1999), Australia’s leading producer of gourmet macadamia products. Pam is the convenor of Northern Rivers Foods and besides sharing a passion for the Northern Rivers Food Industry is a current member of the Australian Landcare Council and a past Director of the Northern Rivers Regional Development Board.

All nuts used in the Brookfarm range are sourced from local farms and our own macadamia plantation at St. Helena, overlooking beautiful Byron Bay in sub-tropical Northern New South Wales. The Brookfarm story is all about the creation of great tasting healthy food. Brookfarm’s award winning range includes Macadamia Mueslis, Walkabout Mixes, Premium Grade Natural and Infused Macadamia Oils and delicious Roasted Macadamia Nuts. Brookfarm was Telstra Business of the Year in 2007.

Michael Dlask Salumi

Formerly a restaurateur, Michael embarked on a journey of founding Salumi Australia (2010) with friend and business partner Massimo Scalas. Salumi Australia is a boutique smallgoods manufacturing business based in Billinudgel. As well as sharing a passion for the Northern Rivers Food industry, his ambition to manufacture an uncompromisingly high quality artisan product, handmade with no flavorings and unnecessary additives. The pork used comes from local farmers – Bangalow Sweet Pork – boasting 63% unsaturated fat, hormone and antibiotic free and Byron Bay Berkshire Pork.

Phil Coram Three Springs Farm

Phil and his partner Benita own Three Springs Farm, a certified organic property and wildlife refuge located at The Channon. The farm specialises in produce with medicinal applications including garlic, turmeric, ginger, lemongrass, horseradish and chillies. In addition, field trials have been undertaken for the NSW DPI to ascertain the therapeutic benefits of rare plants such as bitter melon and gac.  Originally a conventional cattle farm, the past four years have been devoted to improving the biological profile of the soil to achieve maximum quality of produce without using synthetic chemicals.

As well as previous management experience in the fields of education, sport and sponsorship, Phil spent 10 years running his catering and event management business, including a hands on role as a chef. Phil is dedicated to growing delicious, nutritional produce suited to the northern rivers climate and in promoting the region's identity as a food bowl. Email: pcoram@theplanet.net.au

Rebecca Zentveld Zentveld's Coffee

The Coffee Mistress. Chief of roasting, and all good taste decisions at Zentveld’s Roastery. Sarah McGrory Get Forked & Fly

Sarah is a Social Media Manager + Content Writer + Food Blogger living and working in and around Byron Bay.

Sarah specialises in creating content for small to medium food enterprises across the Northern Rivers. She has helped a number of local food businesses - including Northern Rivers Food members - with establishing their social media channels, creating content for their social media channels and advertising via their social media channels. She has also written copy for several local food businesses including website content, blogs and sales material.

In her spare time Sarah has created a blog called Get Forked and Fly – a Byron Bay Food Review, which includes reviews of local cafés, restaurants and food events as well as local recipes and other gourmet travels.

Sarah loves dogs, champagne, cooking for friends and living in the Northern Rivers food mecca!

Amy Colli

A Northern Rivers local, Amy’s background is in food, wine, education and events. She is currently studying a Master of Gastronomic Tourism through Southern Cross University and Le Cordon Bleu and is an advocate for local food and unique epicurean events. She also undertakes freelance work in writing, events and education.

She has previously worked for Southern Cross University and TAFE NSW where she hosted tourism and business students on domestic and international study tours, as well as coordinated events and worked with project teams. She has also worked in various training roles within the wine industry, taught hospitality courses and founded her experience in restaurants and resorts.

Matt Weinert, NSW Department of Primary Industries

Matt Weinert is the Banana Industry Development officer with the NSW Department of Primary Industries, based at Wollongbar. He has 25 years of research, development and extension experience across a wide range of horticultural commodities. He has worked on both national and overseas projects. A plant pathologist by training, Matt moved into industry development to gain an understanding of why growers do not adopt research recommendations. Matt often jokes that his major interest in agriculture is culinary.

Martin Brook Brookfarm

Born in Devon, UK Martin Brook has a background in film, television and journalism and was one of the first Media Studies graduates from the PCL London, now the University of Westminster. At Brookfarm Martin is responsible for all National and International sales and Marketing and has built a comprehensive global distribution network. Martin is a member or the Australian Macadamia Societies marketing committee and an executive member of the Big Scrub Landcare Group. In 2007 Brookfarm were the State and National Winners of the Telstra business of the year. In 2010 Brookfarm won the NAB Best Rural Enterprise of the year award.

ilias the GREEK

A passionate food lover who was born in a tiny village called Kastoria in northern Greece. ilias the GREEK was born in a home kitchen doing the local markets whilst creating a local wholesale network. We now produce our sweets in our state of the art premises in Billinudgel and ship interstate whilst still participating in the local markets and festivals such a: Bangalow & Byron markets, Splendour in the Grass, Sample festival & regional flavours. Rea Francis, RF Media

An astute strategist, Rea has a domestic and international profile across cuisine, food produce, wine and spirits, hospitality, tourism, film and television, arts and government.

The Northern Rivers is now her passion– she moved from a Sydney base two years ago after enjoying a roll of local gigs (Gaia Retreat, Linnaeus Estate, Duck Creek Macadamias)

Most recently she has worked with The Farm management and across the border for an umbrella food and lifestyle hub -The 4217 in Surfers.

She is a board member of the Northern Rivers Community Foundation (NRCF) a Screenworks committee member, and a member of the Australian Association of Travel Media.

Rea has lead an events oriented life – from creating international presence for the Australian and NZ film and television industries to launching restaurateurs, chefs and lifestyle events.

She loves a list.

Tina Kelly, TinaK Marketing

Tina owns and runs her own marketing consultancy TinaK Marketing. She is based right here in the heart of the Northern Rivers but travels across the country making marketing fabulous! She has gathered a lot of knowledge from her work in ad agencies, market research agencies and client side marketing positions – and there’s nothing she enjoys more than bringing that experience to work for her clients. Hang on…that’s not quite true. She enjoys a glass of Pinot Grigio just a teeny bit more!! Unashamedly passionate about great food, wonderful wines and life itself, Tina loves being part of this thriving, vibrant region, which we are all lucky enough to call home. Michelle Dowding, NORTEC

Michelle Dowding is the Marketing Coordinator for NORTEC, a community owned organisation who provide solutions for staffing, training and community initiatives and are well known in the region for their small business incubator and advisory support programs that encourage small business sustainability and growth in our region. Michelle has lived in the Northern Rivers since 2001, via Sydney and originally a ‘sandgroper’ from WA. She has a Bachelor of Business with a Major in Marketing, Dip. Marketing with a background in Psychology and English Literature. Harriet Messenger, Husk Distillers

Harriet is the Marketing and Promotions Manager for Husk Distillers, a new boutique distillery in Tumbulgum. With a focus on creating premium Australian spirits, made from local and organic ingredients, Husk Distillers produce Australian paddock-to-bottle rum and craft gin. Husk Virgin Cane Rum, is made from freshly cut and crushed cane juice grown on our riverside farm. Ink Gin contains 15 botanicals including natives lemon myrtle and Tasmanian pepperberry. Both products will be released in 2015. Harriet also works part time for marketing agency made4media in Brisbane, specialising as a creative, marketing and communications consultant. Clare Southwell, Third & Public

Clare is the Founder of Third & Public, a Marketing and Web Design Agency specialising in Ethical and Food brands.

Originally from the UK, Clare has worked with some of the largest and most complex organisations in the world, from Global FMCG’s and Food and Beverage brands, through to Government and Social Enterprises.

Clare is well known for helping differentiate brands from their competitors, and brings a wealth of experience to our beautiful region. And this is where Clare’s heart lies. “Ever since I can remember, the majority of my family life was spent talking about food, preparing food, or sourcing local ingredients.
